After graduating from Gazi University Faculty of Dentistry in 1994 with the first degree, he started his studies as a doctoral student at Gazi University Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the fall semester of the same year.

In 1995, with a project within the TÜBÄ°TAK domestic doctorate program. was awarded a scholarship. Between 1996 and 1998, he worked as a clinical assistant at the Royal London Hospital NHS Trust Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery department at Queen Mary and Westfield College University of London in England. On his return to Turkey in July 1998, he was appointed as a Research Assistant at Gazi University Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. After completing his specialization training in 2000, he was appointed as an Instructor in the same Department in May 2000 and as an Assistant Professor in 2004. Dr. Erkmen, who was awarded the title of Associate Professor in 2006 Between 2008 and 2010, he worked as the Founding Department Head at the Near East University Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, with the assignment of YÖK. 2011 He has been working as a Professor since.

Dr. Erkmen has a large number of foreign research articles published in international refereed journals scanned within the scope of SCI and SCI-Exp, and studies published in domestic journals.

Dr. Erkmen's professional interests include Orthognathic Surgery, Trauma Surgery, Maxillofacial Reconstructive Surgery and Dental – Maxillofacial implant Surgery.

Starting from 2019 He continues his undergraduate education as a second university in the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at Istanbul University.

Dr. Erkmen also conducts detailed studies and readings on philosophy, history of belief systems and esoteric subjects, and also conducts research on these subjects.
