As maxillofacial surgeons, this is one of the most common questions we encounter in daily practice. Why do these teeth remain embedded, why do not they come out? If they don't come out then why do they exist? Although there are many scientific reasons and theories that can be counted for the impacted teeth, the main question to be asked should be what can these impacted teeth cause to the patients. The teeth are surrounded by an envelope before they are inserted into the oral environment under normal conditions. The bag or envelope around this tooth, which normally takes place in the mouth, naturally disappears. However, it is a little different for teeth that cannot work. This envelope actually consists of cell structures that we call epithelium. If we are talking about the cell, then we need to talk about the differentiation of cells or the fact that it is a factor in the formation of structures that we call "cysts" by expanding the surrounding bone by pressure on the surrounding tissue. This is where the problem starts. This cyst either causes serious deformation in the jawbone or undergoes a cellular change and causes some pathologies that are not very pleasant (!!!). This is why; we are in favor of removing impacted teeth without causing such problems. On the other hand, other problems await us in partially erupted teeth. What are these? When the tooth was in the semi-erupted position, the mouth is now open to its environment. The oral environment is in equilibrium at 37 degrees Celsius, rich in food residues and in the presence of bacteria in its natural microflora. If you think how much you clean a semi-impacted tooth that opens to the oral environment by opening the gingiva and cannot fully erupt, inflammatory reactions may develop with the accumulation of food and the changes in the aforementioned conditions in favor of microorganisms. In this case, pain, facial swelling, limitation of mouth functions are observed. Stay with Love and Health...
